Grants Awarded by Dayton –
Columbia County Fund
Twelve grants totaling $23,175, plus $3,000 in scholarships, have been selected for 2009 awards by the Dayton – Columbia County Fund Committee. Among the 2009 grants is a $10,000 award to Dayton High School's music program to purchase new instruments.
The Dayton – Columbia County fund was created in April, 2004. Since its inception, the fund, administered by the Blue Mountain Community Foundation, has grown to nearly $670,000 in endowed support.
The grant awards are as follows:
- Dayton School District, $10,000 - High School Music Program
- Touchet Valley Arts Council, $2,000 - Renovation of Liberty Theater annex
- American Legion/VFW, $3,500 - Updates to the American Legion Hall
- Friends of the Pool, $2,000 - For pool improvements, awards and scholarships
- Dayton Kiwanis, $500 - Equipment for Boy Scout Troop
- Dayton American Association of University Women (AAUW), $250 - Palouse Kids Judge! Neuroscience Fair
- Dayton AAUW, $500 - Dayton TechREACH STEM Clubs
- Dayton AAUW, $500 - Dayton Middle & High School GEAR UP
- Blue Mountain Heritage Society, $1,000 - Palus Museum and video history projects
- Bi-County 4-H Camp, $425 - Campers' fees and expenses at Camp Wooten
- Absolute Basic Care, $500 - Equine Therapy Program
- Veterans' Memorial, $2,000 - Monument
