WALNET: Bringing Rural Libraries Together
The city of Walla Walla recently raised its library card fee for non-city residents from $50 to $135. That's a chunk of change for people who live outside the boundaries of WALNET--a consortium of seven libraries that operate under the motto--share and share alike. Walla Walla Community College (including the Clarkston campus), Walla Walla Public Library and the four Walla Walla County Library District branches all use a shared database which allows patrons to search for and request materials from any WALNET library and have those materials delivered to the library of their choice--free. Currently, within Walla Walla County, only residents of the cities of College Place and Waitsburg reside outside the WALNET boundaries. So visit YOUR local library and enjoy the benefits of libraries that share!
