Welcome Waitsburg and Prescott

This month, for the first time in history, the Blue Mountain News is being mailed free to residents and businesses in Waitsburg and Prescott, and their surrounding areas. I hope all of you there enjoy reading our paper.

We are now mailing approximately 3,300 copies of the paper each month to readers in the Dayton, Starbuck, Waitsburg and Prescott zip codes, plus subcribers outside these areas. In addition, we are distributing about 1,000 copies to retailers in these areas.

In the coming months we plan to provide much more coverage of people, news and events in Waitsburg and Prescott. I encourage readers in those areas to contact us, by email or phone, if you know of things we need to include here. Our contact information is on page 3.

We Have Web

Finally, after many months, the Blue Mountain News website is up and running. The address is: www.bluemtnnews.com

When you go there now you can read all of the content of the October and November issues. The photos are there as well. At this point we have no ads on line, but we're working on it.

Each month we will upload the complete current issue of Blue Mountain News. The previously uploaded issues will be available to read there as well. At some point we hope to include the first six issues of the paper on the site.

The web site will allow us to do some things we can't do with the printed newspaper. Most importantly, we will attempt to keep the Community Calendar totally current. When people send us new information about things that are happening, we will add them to the calendar (almost) immediately. If times, dates or locations of items on the calendar change, we can make those updates right away. And in the incredibly unlikely event that we might have actually made a mistake on the printed calendar, we will be able to correct it online.

We also will be able to add timely things like election results or important game scores as soon as they're available. And we'll create a list of links to other interesting web sites relating to our area.

In the next few months, we plan to expand the web site to include things like extra photos related to stories in the paper or extra news bits we didn't have room for. And who knows what other odd stuff we might come up with.
